4th Grade Class
Donnell Ross
(801) 392-2912
Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Donnell Ross. I am extremely honored to be teaching 4th grade at St. Paul Lutheran School. I love education and I will be enthusiastically building creative, motivational and challenging activities for my students.
SOMETHING ABOUT ME
My first 14 years of teaching were as a part of an Ogden middle school teaching U.S. History, Utah Studies and Reading. I have a Social Studies Composite Teaching Major from Weber State University and a Level 2 Teaching certificate from the State of Utah. I also have a Reading Endorsement from the Northern Utah Curriculum Consortium. Being a teacher is a responsibility I take very seriously. I will be working hard to ensure your student is learning, having fun and nurturing their Christian faith through words, actions and praise.
Not only do I love teaching, I love St. Paul School. My daughter and son have been attending St. Paul School since Pre-School. Academically my children have been challenged and spiritually my children have grown to know the importance of God in their every day lives. My own history at St. Paul began when I was just thirteen years old while attending St. Paul Church with my own family. Outside of St. Paul, my family and I spend a great deal of time camping, fishing and hiking with our two chocolate labs.
Thanks so much for taking the time to learn about St. Paul's fourth grade!!!|
CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION
- I begin each week with a detailed letter home describing the events of the week and our academic goals.
- The students bring home a study folder on Monday containing homework and study items with coordinating due dates. (spelling words, religion memory work, vocabulary, reading log etc.)
- The students use a planner and a 5 pocked folder to keep all of their responsibilities organized.
- Students end the week by writing a letter to you describing some of the things they have learned during the week.
- Students work on collecting gems for their individual treasure boxes. They can earn gems for exceptional work or good citizenship. The focus of the classroom discipline policy is making good choices because we know we should not because we are told to. Students will be encouraged down the path of improving their self-control and making better choices.
- We are "Planet Protectors"!
The Fourth Grade is responsible for St. Paul's school-wide recycling program. We maintain plastic and paper recycling baskets for each classroom. In Science, we emphasize conservation and other ways to care for our Earth. The students take great pride in this extra responsibility for our school.
