History:

  • In early 1945, St. Paul Lutheran Church voted to open a Christian Day School in the church basement on the corner of 28th St. & Quincy Ave. The school opened in September, 1945 under the direction of Dr. Martin Kirch, with only eight students working at picnic tables. Dr. Kirch would drive and pick up the students at their homes and bring them to school each day.
  • When the church purchased property at 3329 Harrison Blvd. in 1957, students attended school on the Harrison property in the "Old Red Barn", which was later named Luther Hall.
  • The new church building was dedicated March 24, 1963.
  • In 1980, a new education complex with 8 classrooms was completed.
  • In 1987, the "Old Red Barn" was extensively remodeled and became known as the Behnken Christian Child Care Center - a preschool and daycare facility.
  • In 2003, a new gymnasium and four new classrooms were added.
